Holy Week is an essential event in Vigan, a city in the northern Philippines known for its well-preserved Spanish colonial architecture and heritage sites. During Holy Week, Vigan's churches and cathedrals hold various religious activities, including processions, masses, and vigils. Some of the significant events during Holy Week in Vigan.



The first is the Palm Sunday. This is the start of Holy Week where Catholics carry palm branches as a symbol of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem.



Second is the Maundy Thursday. This day commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples. In Vigan, the traditional Visita Iglesia, where devotees visit several churches to pray and reflect, is commonly observed.



Third event is the Good Friday. A day of mourning and solemn reflection for Catholics, marked by the Stations of the Cross and the Santo Entierro, a procession where a statue of the dead Christ is carried through the streets.



Fourth is the Black Saturday. A day which of silence and anticipation before the Easter celebration. In Vigan, there are masses held in the morning, and the Paschal Vigil is held in the evening.




And lastly the Easter Sunday. A joyous celebration of Jesus' resurrection. In Vigan, there is a grand procession of the Risen Christ and a High Mass in the cathedral.

             I had learned so much in such a short period of time. There were numerous lessons learned. Lessons in school and in life. I go to school, which is one of the reasons I have to work hard and make my family proud. Each subject has its own set of lessons to teach. This second quarter has taught me a lot.
