“The art of LOVE is largely the art of persistence.”

 "Self  Love”

Valentine’s Day, also called St. Valentine’s Day, holiday (February 14) when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts. Given their similarities, it has been suggested that the holiday has origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, held in mid-February. The festival, which celebrated the coming of spring, included fertility rites and the pairing off of women with men by lottery. At the end of the 5th century, Pope Gelasius I forbid the celebration of Lupercalia and is sometimes attributed with replacing it with St. Valentine’s Day, but the true origin of the holiday is vague at best. Valentine’s Day did not come to be celebrated as a day of romance until about the 14th century.

The day is popular in the United States as well as in Britain, Canada, and Australia, and it is also celebrated in other countries, including Argentina, France, Mexico, and South Korea. In the Philippines it is the most common wedding anniversary, and mass weddings of hundreds of couples are not uncommon on that date. The holiday has expanded to expressions of affection among relatives and friends. Many schoolchildren exchange valentines with one another on this day.

February means being bombarded with red hearts, pink flowers, and phrases like "be mine" written in elegant script everywhere you look. For some people, both single and in relationships, Valentine's Day is an annoying and unnecessary commercial celebration. For those who are unattached and not exactly happy about it. Though, it can be more like pouring salt in a wound.

Fortunately, it doesn't have to be that way! While a couple's massage may not be on the docket, you can still plan on having fun on February 14. In fact, Valentine's Day can be a great opportunity to indulge in fun activities, whether it's a solo dinner or some self-care. Just because you don't have a significant other doesn't mean you can't commemorate this holiday with some self-love.

On this day we celebrate the valentine's day in school by exchanging gifts, it was very fun for me. Then after school me and my family had some dinner outside, after that I celebrate this event solo by giving the gift I want, buying some stuff that I want on valentine's, spoiling myself was the happiest part for me. I can treat myself better than everybody.

"NEW YEAR, NEW US"

"THE BEST IS YET TO COME"   When the new year comes around it seems like the perfect time for self-improvement.Even though I’ve always failed my New Year’s resolutions, every year I promise myself that this time will be different. I’ve tried everything from being a vegetarian to starting my homework earlier to giving up Facebook. Each time after about a month (at most) I’ve given up. Why do I even bother? I don’t feel that bad when I break my resolutions but sometimes I wish I could do better.     I know that it’s better to make a SMART goal, (specific, measurable, attainable, reachable, and timely), but it’s challenging for me to find a realistic goal to follow in a year. I like to accomplish little goals, so using my past knowledge, (and a little bit of brain power), I came up with a SMART New Years resolution.     I think I need to get a lot better at telling people, “No.”. I was born a people-pleaser, so I tend to subconsciously do whatever I c...
