THE KANNAWIDAN FESTIVAL 2023 CELEBRATION

"TAWID KEN KULTURA"

Kannawidan Ylocos is an annual festival that celebrates the founding of the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines every 2nd of February. A week-long celebration, its activities span from the last few days of January to the first week of February. Major activities occur in Vigan, the capital of the province.

The name Kannawidan Ylocos is derived from the word tawid. Tradition, legacy, and/or heritage are the English translations. It commemorates the province's historical establishment during Spanish times.

Kannawidan Ylocos was first introduced during the presidency of Deogracias Victor Savellano in 2008. It was founded to raise awareness of and preserve local culture, tradition, heritage, and customs. It was also a chance to highlight local products, artistry, and craftsmanship. It was also created to help the local tourism industry.

Traditional games, cultural shows, drone light and dancing fountain shows, fireworks display, comedy nights, entertainment, food fest, pet shows, and competitions are among Kannawidan Ylocos' activities. Traditional games, talent contests, exhibits, sporting events, trainings, street dance, festival dance showdown, and other fun activities are also available.

REFLECTION

I had learned so much in such a short period of time. There were numerous lessons learned. Lessons in school and in life. I go to school, which is one of the reasons I have to work hard and make my family proud. Each subject has its own set of lessons to teach. This second quarter has taught me a lot. Everyday learning is good for our health. I'm certain it does. Due to the abundance of assignments, learning can be exhausting at times, but the effort will be worthwhile. Tags in ICT, mirrors and motors in Science, and many other topics are covered. I'd like to learn more in the future. Thank you also to the teachers who are eager to share their knowledge.
